ABSA

Our Services

ABSA professionals make it easy to boost the environmental performance of homes and assess the efficiency of your space heating and hot water systems.

Home energy rating assessors use sophisticated computer programs to analyse building plans and can offer practical and cost-effective ways to improve the performance of a home. They have completed rigorous training and examination, are subject to regular auditing, and are backed by Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Assessors can work with your home's designer and save you time and money by incorporating environmental considerations during the design stage.

How is an assessment generated?

An ABSA Assessor conducts home energy rating assessments by inputting your house design into an approved computer software package. For an existing home the assessor will make a site visit, and for a new home in the design phase the Assessor will rate the home from the plans only.

The rating is based on building fabric components (e.g. walls, floors, roof, windows, insulation), climatic data (from weather data files), and occupancy settings. The software is also used to rate the performance of your space heating and your hot water systems. Assessors must be trained and examined in the software package that they use.

Your ABSA Assessor will provide you with a home energy rating report which includes a star rating for these aspects. Your Assessor will also suggest some alternatives to improve the performance of your house design, and efficiency of your heating and water heating systems - these recommendations are also included in your home energy rating report.
